Superconductive cavity
SDMS is a renowned manufacturer of specific equipments intended for
great scientific projects : superconductive cavity for particle accelerators,
fusion, fission, laser experiments.
Resonating superconductive cavity for PSI (Paul Scherrer Institute)
The superconductive cavity manufactured replaces an aluminum cavity
within the cyclotron.
The superconductive cavity is better cooled with copper than with aluminum
and has a better electric conductivity, which will allow to increase the
cyclotron power.
CuC1 wall copper in 8 mm thick of 5200 X 2960 X 800 mm, weight of 4250
kg equipped with 10 cooling circuits in 316 LN to distribute a water flow
of 34 m3/h.
Cooling circuits completely non-magnetic, welded onto the copper wall.
Stainless steel structure 5600 X 3885 X 940 mm, weight of 18100 kg with
a geometry adapted to the cyclotron dimensions to grant the geometry of
the vacuum copper wall and to allow with arches equipped with hydraulic
actuating cylinders to adjust the geometry of the cavity in order to obtain
the required HF resonance (50,6 MHz).
